Hi Gloria, Do you already know how to do regular sewing? Not only can each section be joined with any method used to join motives/motifs, usually using a Crochet Hook; but a person can use the SAME regular sewing methods to join the sections together. If your item is made of yarn, use yarn to «sew» them together. If your item is made of a «less stretchy» Thread, use thread to sew together. The most important thing is workmanship. As long as what you do is done Neatly and with care, (as if the seam side were to be the front side) everything will be fine.
Actually it is Crochet. With a hook, in this case. Yet I see two areas which look like they were knitted. With needles. She seems to perhaps have used both Arts. Still, Freeform can be done using Knitting with Needles or by Crocheting with a Hook. Both Arts are quite lovely. If you Knit with Needles, try it. It is fun to experiment. [I Crochet.]
Oh how I like your workmanship in this Technique: Freeform. I have seen many photos of this type of work and most of it is simply ugly. There is no other word.
But yours is Beautiful. The stitches are well formed, the transitions from pattern to pattern are finished cleanly, etc. In addition your color choices are Sophisticated, Stylish, and Rich. Thank you for proving that this Freeform Technique can indeed be Beautiful.
Well… the stitch pattern is nice, but it would be better made into a Shawl because those solid sections of single crochet stitches simply end up in the wrong place.
